ISAD (G)
ISAD (G) is an international standard which provides guidelines for creating an archival description.
We believe it is important to adhere to international standards for cataloguing archives. Adhering to such standards means that data can easily be shared and re-used. Archives Hub descriptions comply with ISAD (G) and the format used to store the descriptions is EAD.
We also use controlled access points for indexing subjects, personal, corporate and family names, places and genre. It is important to include index terms within descriptions as they can help users to find related materials within the Hub.
ISAD (G) is an international standard which provides guidelines for creating an archival description.
The Archives Hub stores all its archival descriptions in an electronic format called Encoded Archival Description (EAD).
Index terms provide access points for users to find relevant descritions and enable links to be made to other archival descriptions.
The archive community has a number of other relevant standards for the creation of consistent and effective descriptions.
